Using the TI-83 Graphing Calculator
Getting Started

1. Start with the TI-83 Guidebook that
came with your calculator. Work through "Chapter 0"--Getting
Started: Do This First! Try Chapter 1 also, although some
information may not be too clear until you become more experienced
with your calculator. It is helpful to know how to use the previous
entry and answer, pages 1-16 to 1-18. Refer to the other chapters
as you need them. Don't lose this book!
Lost your Guidebook? Download
it here, the whole thing or the chapters you need. Don't
try to print this on a University printer--those are for the
few pages necessary for assignments only, not for printing books!
Print at home or save the file to read on the computer.

2. For many textbooks there is a technology manual available
which will demonstrate how to use various calculators to solve
problems typical of the course. Check the information in the
front of your text to see if one is available for your text. These
books may only devote one chapter to your calculator. Perhaps your
instructor has a copy you can borrow briefly, or you can order a
copy from the textbook publisher.
Hints and Things to Watch Out For -- Calculator Tidbits
We're not going to take time on these pages
to explain standard things like entering a function, choosing
a window, graphing or finding values on a table. Click
on the headline above to read about some of the many other things
you can do with your calculator.
